| Breaks, House Scorpio Funk - House & Breaks DJ Mix Daniel Liston was brought up surrounded by creative and artistic influences in his family and schooling. Both his mother and brother are visual artists, and he learned the piano along with joining his school band. When Dan discovered the San Francisco and LA electronic music scenes in 1999, he found the same exciting energy in the music as in his earlier days listening to punk rock. Attending a variety of events from clubs to raves to raging house parties, he found an appreciation for several types of electronic music and their sub-genres. As his love for the music grew, he developed a particular connection for house and breaks when he began taking to the decks in 2001. Over the past few years, Ill-D the DJ has made quite a name for himself in the underground scene, playing all over the Bay Area and Reno for many respectable production companies such as Modified Productions, Nocturnalism, OmniEra Entertainment, Ill-Behaviour, and Strategik. In 2006 he won 2nd place in Reno's "King Of The Decks" where he competed against several Northern California and Reno DJs. Recently, Ill-D expanded his impressive booking roster to include the San Francisco club circuit with a residency at Butter. In addition to rocking the decks, Dan has used his unique creative talents to design fliers and logos for events and production companies. Currently, he is currently working towards his MFA for graphic design at the Academy of Art University. Promoters and party people alike, take note! - This is one Ill-DJ worth keeping an eye on. |
