| Aaron Waters (a.k.a DJ Durty) came into music at the age of 13 by experimenting with guitar. Initially influenced by Metallica, Pantera, Morbid Angel and Megadeth, he later went on to form two metal bands in Tallahassee, Florida. At age 21, Durty joined the Army and after basic training was sent to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. He was then instantly submersed in the rich Dance Music scene in Northern California. After only a few months of being exposed to electronic music in clubs and raves, Durty saw the need to explore the inter-workings of how electronic music was made and arranged. He started by using Fruity Loops in his spare time and after a few months picked up DJing. In 2004, Durty began to DJ at various events in San Francisco, and after trial and error, began playing his own production out in Summer 2004. He struggled to find a sound that would suit his gigs, but found his production falling below par. After spending some time with pioneering UK producers, Durty found his main sound. He then buckled down and invested in equipment and time to finish his first artist album, Nautical, which was released independently in December 2004, and his second release in 2006. Currently Durty continues to produce, collaborate and DJ all over California and networks with fellow producers all over the world. He is one of the fastest growing and most respected producers and people in the San Francisco electronic music scene in high demand. His collaboration with the release "Jericho" accompished the #1 spot on Track It Down last year and we will keep you updated on our amazing artist and all his releases here at OmniEra. |
